Fun fast-paced basketball classes for kids aged 4 to 14

If you're looking for basketball classes for your children, then Young Hoopers is for you! Young Hoopers provides fun, fast-paced basketball classes for children aged 4 to 14 years old while building their coordination, teamwork and confidence through basketball.

The Young Hoopers concept was developed while the founders were playing and coaching overseas. They saw programs doing a much better job of engaging young players in the game and providing both a much stronger basketball foundation for young players that incorporated a greater range of basic hand-eye coordination, motor skills and cross-sport training methods. Aiming to fill this gap in the Australian basketball landscape they set out to design a curriculum that engages children in a fun, positive manner and helps them develop not just their basketball skills but their movement, eye-hand coordination and team-based skills.

Young Hoopers now offer three core in-term programs; Mini Hoopers classes for 4-7 year-olds, Little Hoopers classes for 8-12 year-olds and Young Hoopers classes for 10-14 year-olds with prior basketball experience. ‘Mini Hoopers’ sessions are fun, playful sessions for children 4-7 years old that are designed to help your child build motor skills, learn the basic skills of basketball and develop their ability to interact and work with their peers. ‘Little Hoopers’ sessions are interactive sessions for children 8-12 years old that are designed to help your child build motor skills, develop their basketball skills and introduce them to 3v3, 4v4 & 5v5 basketball concepts. ‘Young Hoopers’ sessions are specialised advanced sessions for children 10-14 years old that have strong basketball skills and want to further develop their skills within a more focused setting.

Young Hoopers believe the success of their players in the long term will not be defined by how well they dribble, pass or shoot but whether they love the game of basketball. A player that loves the game is a player that will continue to develop and grow their abilities long after their time with Young Hoopers has finished. Even if a player doesn’t pursue basketball further, a general positive connection to sport is proven to assist children in facing the challenges of the modern world from mental health, to childhood obesity and general health, to self-esteem and confidence. This desire to build a ‘love of the game’ and engage children in basketball and sport in general, is the core concept of Young Hoopers sessions and they are built around that concept.
